Podcast: The little questions to ask about coaching

Our partner coach, Maxine Taylor, appeared on the latest episode of Apella’s The Little Questions podcast discussing the importance and value of coaching. We really enjoyed listening to it and you can find the full episode below.

Here are some of the top questions people often ask before undertaking a coaching programme.

Is coaching right for me?

Everyone can benefit from coaching and it isn’t just for executive leaders. People come to coaching for many reasons; to change ways of working, to elevate the level of their work, to help them to drive team collaboration and performance, to change the perception of corporate affairs internally and when making career transitions.

What is the process?

Set up some initial chemistry chats with 2-3 coaches, be as clear as you can on what you hope to achieve and ensure you can commit the time and energy to the process.

Who is the client?

Normally the employer covers the cost but some people do invest in coaching themselves, specifically if focusing on a career transition. There is a high degree of confidentiality in the coaching process and this is assured, it is your relationship that you own and the coach won’t be ‘reporting back’.

How do I convince the business to invest?

Don’t feel embarrassed to ask – there is no shame in asking for investment in your career and personal development, it’s not an admission of failure and everyone has areas they can improve.

If you’d like to organise an initial no commitment chat with Maxine to find out more about how she can help you, please email Sophie Moore smoore@birchwoodknight.com who can find a suitable time.
