In-house corporate affairs news, March 2022

Oriel Petry has been appointed as the new Head of Public Affairs for the UK at Airbus. Oriel is an experienced civil servant, with previous roles at the Department for International Trade and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office amongst other government departments.

The online-only used car marketplace Motorway hired Victoria Biggs as their Chief Communications Officer. She joined from Trainline where she led communications for the company’s successful listing on the London Stock Exchange in 2019.

In February Greg Sage joined Jenny Hall’s team at Royal Mail as Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs and ESG. He was formerly Corporate Affairs Director at pub retailer and brewer Greene King for six and a half years.

After almost ten years at the Channel 4 News Team, Hayley Barlow started a new role at the Daily Mail Group as Director of Communications. Hayley will report to chief brand officer Sean Walsh and work closely Daily Mail editor Ted Verity on Daily Mail, Mail on Sunday and YOU magazine.

Southern Water hired Amy Knights-Whittome as Director of Communications. She previously held senior communications roles at Arqiva, AWE and MCI UK.

Sarah Hagan was hired by Standard Chartered Bank as their Global Head, Corporate Affairs. She was previously Managing Director at the Global CEO Advisory firm Teneo.

Private equity firm Inflexion announced in February the appointment of Jennie Galbraith in the new role of ESG Director. Jennie brings over 20 years of experience in driving sustainability across a range of organisations. Most recently she was Group Head of ESG at BAT where she was responsible for establishing its sustainability agenda.

Following six years at Sky where she was Head of Internal Communications Leader, Jessica Latimer has moved to wholesale foodservice supplier Brakes UK as their Director of Communications.

Virgin Money announced the appointment of Morgan Bone as Head of Corporate Affairs from 1st March. Morgan joined from HSBC where he was Global Head of Communications – Commercial Banking, Global Banking and Markets.

The British Chambers of Commerce hired Alex Veitch as their new Director of Policy and Public Affairs with responsibility for the Policy & Research and Public Affairs teams. Alex will be working with the team and the Network to develop the BCC advocacy agenda. He joins from Logistics UK where he was Deputy Director-Public Policy.

Chris Barrie, who joined Citigate Dewe Rogerson in 2000, will join Associated British Foods in March as Corporate Affairs and Investor Relations Director. His remit will include internal and external communications and public affairs. Chris worked for ABF as an advisor for 20 years whilst at CDR.
